Dear Larry,
My name is Ethan Lindblom and I just wanted to say that your drums are absolutely beautiful! I am in a trio percussion ensemble called Drum Stories and we wanted to find a way to have metallic melodies. The Milltone drums could not be any more perfect! They just scream perfection in every aspect! Amazing tone, gorgeous designs, and amazing recording quality! We love our Milltone so much that as soon as we played it for the first time we recorded our first composition with it the next day. I just wanted to let you know that your contributions to the percussion community have been astounding! Just unbelievable quality, really fantastic instruments. We currently have three compositions that feature our Milltone and we couldn’t be happier. As of today, we have all three of these tunes on our Youtube page and I encourage you to listen to them! We plan on recording a new tune very soon!
Thank you again for the drum! Here’s the URL for our Youtube page.

The names of our tunes with our Milltone is “Steel Bongoes,”, “Wood and Steel,” and “Into the Mist.” “Into the Mist” is our latest song and is by far our favorite. It’s also the featured video on the page. We really hope you enjoy our music!

Dear Larry:
We open The Tempest tonight! Your very featured silvery Milltones glisten under the lights and sound magnificent as they weave their tones throughout The Tempest. They have become a kind of signature sound for the production and I will gather extra programs for you as you are personally credited therein.

Update 8/29/11
Dear Larry:
How are you, my friend? I am VERY happy to report that your Milltone is once again traveling around the world with the final year of the Bridge Project. Kevin Spacey in Richard the Third, directed by Sam Mendes. You can google those words and find a ton of info about it. In particular from the Old Vic Web Site:
I’m thrilled to pass on to you that the Milltone has now been heard at Epidaurus, the oldest working theater in the world. a 2,300 year old ampitheater two hours south of Athens, with unbelievable acoustics. It has a capacity of 12,000 people and when we teched we worked all night as it is a national monument open to tourists during the day. SO…….As the sun rose over the mountains behind that incredible theater, your timeless sound of your drum rang out and the space we were working in vibrated with it, as if it had always been there. I don’[t go on the whole tour, but I WAS there in greece for this moment, and to experience the Milltone in this ancient and and amazing place.
Epidaurus was an ancient healing center at which this theater was originally built: people travelled weeks/months to be restored back to health there...the centering and soulful sounds of your instrument seemed in perfect harmony with everything about this site.
Here's a picture of the ampitheater at dawn that I took from behind the sound desk. It's only about 2/3 of the way up the seating.
The tour this year is incredible:
Hong Kong, Singapore, Bejjing, Sydney, Naples, Aviles, Istanbul, San Francisco, and BAM and your silver sonic masterpiece is with us all the way.
Very best,
Mark B.

Hi Larry.
I hope the year has been going well for you and yours!
Once Again the Milltone has sounded in NYC theater.
An Illiad. Produced by the New York Theater Workshop. A one man re-telling of Homers epic Poem The Milltone is featured in a section titled "Achilles Shield" as the only instrument played by a double bass player for that chapter. (The rest of the production is accompanied soley by the live double bass, amplfied, acoustic, and processed.
The piece was performed in NYC, Off- Broadway, at the New York Theater Workshop this past winter and is going to be performed in La Jolla and Berkeley this summer and fall. I credit you and the drum in the program. The musician was very featured as he played the drum, and they were both beautifully lit. I wish there had been a production photo of that moment, but I think the photographers didn't take one.....I have to be more on them about that when those moments come up. The show was a critical, and audience, success. And the Sound Design, Lights, and the production have all been nominated for Lortel Awards. (the Lortels don't tend to nominate "music for plays" so they basically are acknowledging the score in the sound design. If you go to the New York Theater Workshop's website you can get more info on the production.
As I think I wrote you last summer, The Milltone ringing out at Epidaurus in the Sam Mendes/Kevin Spacey Richard III, in the most ancient working amphitheater in the world, was a truly thrilling moment for us all. That sound, un-amplified, in that ancient space, was absolutely magical.
All best,
Mark B.

The MILLTONE (aka Propanium) is one of the – if not the most beautiful – tuned percussion I have ever played. I can only encourage everybody to visit Larry – as these drums bring an entire new flavor with them.
I am very pleased to have Troels Folmann, an award winning, very talented composer, endorse MILLTONE Drums. Troels Folmann got world wide recognition when he won multiple awards (British Academy Award, Mix Foundation / TEC Award, GDC/GANG etc) for his soundtracks for the next-generation Tomb Raider series.

In reply to Mark Bennett’s endorsement… I saw and heard this production of the Tempest this past Sunday evening at the Brooklyn Academy of Music and it was a truly beautiful, moving, inspiring performance, and the music was an integral part of the magical atmosphere, in no small measure due to the hypnotic current of the hand drums that ran underneath many scenes. Well done, all around. I hope to acquire one of your instruments very soon.

Thank you for your comments about Mark Bennett’s music in The Tempest Jim. I appreciate your review very much.

Been using the millstone drum I got from you last July since I received it, and the dancers love it!. I’m an accompanist for dance in quite a few dance schools in Singapore, and I use the custom milltone drum to provide a “voice” amidst the other percussion instruments I play:)
Thanks!..
Cheers and Regards,
Nick
